Ellington FAQs

Home » Ellington FAQs

ePublishing recently announced the acquisition of Ellington CMS and Ellington Marketplace. First, we'd like to assure all Ellington clients that we will continue to support the Ellington CMS & Marketplace, and provide the same high level of service Ellington customers have come to expect.

ePublishing drives profit for publishers and media companies with tools and services that empower a wide range of business models, leveraging new and broadly diversified income streams – creating deep reader engagement with contextual Content, Community and Commerce.

Here are answers to a few questions we're hearing:

I'm an Ellington CMS or Marketplace client. Who can I contact for information or assistance with my website?

ePublishing is committed to providing a high level of service and implementation support to all Ellington websites.

Rick Brandt, VP at Ellington CMS, rbrandt@ellingtoncms.com
direct: (785) 856-4157

Lou Bahin, CMO at ePublishing, lbahin@ePublishing.com
direct: (312) 768-6868

If my website is on the Ellington CMS, am I going to have to switch to ePublishing?

Ellington clients will not be required to switch to the ePublishing platform, and ePublishing will continue to support Ellington software and client websites. Nor will you have to sign a new contract with ePublishing if you have a current Ellington CMS or Ellington Marketplace contract.

Is Ellington going out of business?

ePublishing’s acquisition of Ellington CMS & Marketplace ensures it will be business as usual for Ellington clients: there will be no change to existing implementation, software license and hosting Agreements.

Will Ellington become part of the ePublishing platform?

ePublishing will manage, market and sell Ellington CMS and Ellington Marketplace as separate offerings from the ePublishing platform.

What are the synergies between Ellington CMS & Marketplace and ePublishing?

Ellington brings years of publishing industry experience to ePublishing, with a special focus on local metropolitan newspapers. Ellington’s experience enhances ePublishing’s 15+ years of publishing industry experience, and with Marketplace, provides additional tools and services for local markets.

What is Ellington Marketplace?

Ellington Marketplace empowers media organizations to become experts on everything local — for consumers at home or on the go. Marketplace offers numerous new revenue opportunities from selling enhanced business listings, to selling premium sponsorships and banner ads. Marketplace websites include complete listing of all local businesses: name, address, phone, website link, hours of operation, accepted forms of payment, map and photo.

How do I find out more about Marketplace?

What is Ellington CMS?

Ellington is a web content management system designed specifically for daily and weekly metropolitan newspapers. With a client list that includes The Columbian, Steamboat Today and Lawrence Journal-World, Ellington offers tools and features to deliver news, multimedia, lists and other content via mobile, RSS and eMail. Ellington sites engage local readers with interactive features, social media sharing, and localized content.

How does Ellington CMS differ from the ePublishing platform?

Ellington CMS does a great job of delivering localized news and business information such as events directory listings. Ellington CMS websites are highly interactive, featuring polls, comments and social media sharing. While there are similarities there are four key differentiators:

Contextual Relationships: ePublishing offers similar content management tools that deliver contextually related content based on semantic tagging. By integrating features such as Events, Directories, and most importantly, eCommerce, ePublishing delivers articles, blogs and other content contextually related to products, events and listings to support sales and revenue streams from lead generation, ad sales and sponsorships.

eCommerce: eCommerce is built in to the ePublishing platform. Any content can be monetized, by gating premium articles to require registration or payment, selling products, event registrations, buyers guide listings, ads, and other content via secure shopping cart on the site. As mentioned above, ePublishing eCommerce functionality allows relevant products to be presented in context with related articles and in search results, which increases purchases and subscriptions.

Integrations: ePublishing integrates well with 3rd party software to automate many steps, such as newsletter creation and delivery without cutting and pasting. Other automated steps include synchronization of registrations with email lists and circulation or fulfillment database. With ePublishing's User Manager, publishers can track and manage customer preferences, purchases, and subscriptions.

Customization: ePublishing offers a high degree of customization to it's client websites. Client business model and preferences determine website appearance, features, and functionality with design, layout and functionality tailored to increase traffic and to create revenue opportunities.

Who is Mediaphormedia?

Mediaphormedia is a software firm that in 2000 grew out of developing software tools and services for the Lawrence Journal World. Today, its products, Ellington CMS and Marketplace, serve more than 300 media websites in North America.
