The Indianapolis Business Journal captured an Overall Excellence award for its new website, IBJ.com, in the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ 15th annual Best in Business Journalism contest for 2009.
There were 163 winners out of 796 entries, the second-highest entry total in the contest’s history.
Each winning entry is now considered for SABEW’s Best of the Best awards, honoring the very best of business journalism produced at newspapers, magazines and Web sites. Best of the Best winners will be announced and all the awards will be presented March 20 during SABEW’s 47th annual conference in Phoenix.
"Even though IBJ.com is still young, it won a general excellence award when compared with many well-established sites in the small Website category. It’s a very impressive result for a site that will only continue to improve," said Tom Harton, Editor at Indianapolis Business Journal.
“Some contend that good business journalism is dying. Judging by the winners of the contest, nothing could be further from the truth,“ said Greg McCune, SABEW president and Thomson Reuters training manager. “Study this list of winners, and you may notice the emergence of a fresh and vigorous online business media, as well as continuing excellence from some traditional media we rely on.“
