In last week’s news announcement, we focused specifically on IBJ.com winning the “Best Website” award from the Alliance of Area Business Publications (AABP). This single award is an accomplishment in itself, but for IBJ it’s just the tip of the iceberg. In all, IBJ’s stellar staff garnered 9 awards for excellence in journalism, photography and design—including several in the digital category. Today, we’d like to highlight a few of these.IBJ.com

Gold Award: Best Industry-Specific eNewsletter

IBJ’s weekly online newsletter “Health Care and Reform Weekly,” is described by the award judges as “what an effective online newsletter should be.” Using ePublishing’s newsletter tool, J.K. Wall, Andrea Davis and other IBJ staff provide readers with a wealth of healthcare news in a friendly format, supplemented with IBJ.com’s outstanding multimedia content—including video, social media and the events calendar.

Bronze Award: Best Online Scoop

By using the automated email news alert tool on ePublishing’s SaaS Content Management Platform, reporter Cory Schouten cracked open a story about plans to close the Nordstrom’s anchor store in downtown Indianapolis. By streamlining steps, to reduce to just minutes, the time it takes to release each ALERT, Cory’s readers got the news before the store’s employees.

Bronze Award: Best Multimedia Story/Editorial Feature

IBJ presented their comprehensive video story “Testing Reform,” with clean design, presentation and a strong script—in context with related media and background resources.

IBJ also received awards in the following categories:

  • Best Staff Generated Blog
  • Best Feature Layout
  • Best Coverage of Local Breaking News
  • Best Body of Work, Single Reporter
  • Best By-Line Commentary

Congratulations IBJ, for a job extremely well done!
